Iron ores<\/b><\/sup>\u00a0are\u00a0rocks\u00a0and\u00a0minerals\u00a0from which\u00a0metallic\u00a0iron\u00a0can be economically extracted. The\u00a0ores\u00a0are usually rich in\u00a0iron oxides\u00a0and vary in color from dark grey, bright yellow, or deep purple to rusty red. The iron is usually found in the form of\u00a0magnetite\u00a0(Fe3<\/sub>O4<\/sub><\/span>, 72.4% Fe),\u00a0hematite\u00a0(Fe2<\/sub>O3<\/sub><\/span>, 69.9% Fe),\u00a0goethite\u00a0(FeO(OH)<\/span>, 62.9% Fe),\u00a0limonite\u00a0(FeO(OH)\u00b7n(H2<\/sub>O)<\/span>, 55% Fe) or\u00a0siderite\u00a0(FeCO3<\/sub><\/span>, 48.2% Fe).<\/p>

Production of iron ore in FY21 stood at 204.48 million tonnes. From April 2021- January 2022, iron ore production in India stood at 204 million tonnes (MT). In FY20, India had a total number of 878 steel plants producing crude steel. Metallurgical coal or coking coal is a grade of coal that can be used to produce good-quality coke. Coke is an essential fuel and reactant in the blast furnace process for primary steelmaking. The demand for metallurgical coal is highly coupled to the demand for steel. Primary steelmaking companies often have a division that produces coal for coking, to ensure a stable and low-cost supply.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Limestone\u00a0is a common type of\u00a0carbonate\u00a0sedimentary rock that is the main source of the material\u00a0lime. It is composed mostly of the\u00a0minerals\u00a0calcite\u00a0and\u00a0aragonite, which are different\u00a0crystal forms\u00a0of\u00a0calcium carbonate\u00a0(CaCO3). Limestone forms when these minerals\u00a0precipitate\u00a0out of water containing dissolved calcium.

Limestone has numerous uses: as a building material, an essential component of concrete (Portland cement), as aggregate for the base of roads, as white pigment or filler in products such as toothpaste or paints, as a chemical feedstock for the production of lime, as a soil conditioner, and as a popular decorative addition to rock gardens. Limestone formations contain about 30% of the world\u2019s petroleum reservoirs.

Over three-fourths of the total limestone of India is produced by Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu.

Coke\u00a0is a grey, hard, and\u00a0porous\u00a0coal-based fuel with a high\u00a0carbon\u00a0content and few\u00a0impurities, made by heating\u00a0coal\u00a0or\u00a0oil\u00a0in the absence of air\u2014a\u00a0destructive distillation\u00a0process. It is an important industrial product, used mainly in\u00a0iron ore\u00a0smelting, but also as a fuel in\u00a0stoves\u00a0and\u00a0forges\u00a0when\u00a0air pollution\u00a0is a concern.<\/p>

The unqualified term \u201ccoke\u201d usually refers to the product derived from low-ash and low-sulphur\u00a0bituminous coal\u00a0by a process called\u00a0coking. A similar product called\u00a0petroleum coke, or pet coke, is obtained from\u00a0crude oil\u00a0in\u00a0oil refineries. Sodium carbonate,\u00a0Na2CO3, (also known as\u00a0washing soda,\u00a0soda ash,\u00a0and\u00a0soda crystals) is the\u00a0inorganic compound\u00a0with the formula Na2CO3\u00a0and its various hydrates. All forms are white, odourless, water-soluble salts that yield moderately alkaline solutions in water. Historically, it was extracted from the ashes of plants growing in sodium-rich soils. Because the ashes of these sodium-rich plants were noticeably different from ashes of wood (once used to produce potash), sodium carbonate became known as \u201csoda ash\u201d. It is produced in large quantities from sodium chloride and limestone by the Solvay process.

Soda Ash demand in India grew at a CAGR of 5.54% during 2013-2019 and is anticipated to achieve a healthy CAGR during the forecast period.
